Our Team

Nelson Cheng has over 20 years of healthcare experience of which over 15 years have been within the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) space.  Prior to joining Gramercy Surgery Center, Mr. Cheng worked with multi-specialty and single-specialty medical practices in New York, specializing in billing and patient experience enhancement.  Since joining Gramercy Surgery Center in 2006, Nelson has worked tirelessly within every single administrative department of the company and has had the benefit of watching each team adapt to ongoing changes. His experience in managing Patient Care Representatives, Scheduling, Pre-Admission Testing, Revenue Cycle Management, Purchasing, Inventory Management, Facilities Maintenance, and Business Development, now allows for seamless administrative collaboration with clinical leadership.

During Nelson’s tenure with Gramercy Surgery Center, he has assisted the company in its growth from a two-operating room center to its current two-facility structure—each with four operating rooms.  His wide breadth of experience within the company brings institutional and historic knowledge to the forefront of every management discussion or decision.  In 2021, Nelson earned the Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) credential and also took on the Site Director role of Gramercy Surgery Center’s Queens location.

Mr. Cheng is a graduate from SUNY Farmingdale and currently resides in Long Island City with his wife, dog, and son.
